I honestly think you're looking for something that isn't there. The second set of the recent Furthur show is pretty similar to the second set of a ton of Grateful Dead shows from 1978-early 80s.

Considering the fact that Furthur is jamming very differently than the Dead ever did and mixing up the setlists and song combinations in seques I seriously doubt that was on purpose. With the thousands of shows the Grateful Dead played I think it's pretty likely that some sets will look similar...but I definitely think its a strecth to say it's on purpose.

The story going around is this...
2/17/82 was the first show Phil brought his now wife Jill to and the show the other night was kind of a Valentine's Day gift to her.
Sounds reasonable to me.

That makes sense. Also probably explains the addition of Pride in the first set.

Does anyone know if Phil usually sings lead on Eyes with Further or was this part of the Valentine's gift? I think i would stick with chocolates.

So far the second set is better than the first. Definitely more energy.

"I think i would stick with chocolates."

That made me chuckle. Thanks for a laugh this morning.
